London travel diary: Winter Wonderland

Ok. I never normally do posts like this, but we all know that I have major wanderlust so here it goes.

Last weekend, (Dec 10th & 11th) I was lucky enough to be able to go back to my favourite place on earth, aka London, and meet up with some lovely / amazing bloggers who I can now call my best friends. ((Deep and cringe, I know)).

I managed to catch the train from Liverpool Lime Street at 11am which got me into London Euston around 1pm. I am a sucker when it comes to travelling by train, so even the journey there was emotional and exciting all at the same time.

Fast forward past my Uber app not working, and having to pay for a taxi to my hotel which cost £25, I finally arrived at my hotel. I was staying in London Kensington so it was just outside the main bit of London but still pretty close.

After meeting up with Katie, Jordanne and Cathy, we all headed over to ‘Winter Wonderland’ which was an absolute dream come true. Christmas must be my favourite time of the year; and ‘Winter Wonderland’ really was a … winter wonderland. Obviously, being bloggers, we all got into the venue and took a thousand pictures of the view, rides, and anything else.

We managed to go on the big wheel which just so happened to be a lot scarier than I ever imagined. I am not goof with heights as it is, so when I was ((super)) high up in the air, I felt like the end was near- if you think I was scared you should’ve seen Katie!

Me and Cathy also went over to the crepes stall, but we couldn’t justify paying £4 for one. So that was that. Oh, and we also decided to brace it and go on a massive rollercoaster which looped. I feel sorry for Cathy having to put up with my screaming (and what seemed like my dripping make-up due to the rain… yes rain!) but it was still mega fun nevertheless.

Next we went back to Kensington and I am honoured to have been a part of Katie’s first Nando’s experience. Cheeky. Did I really just say that? Waiting twenty odd minutes for a table was well worth it, however.

When we got back to our hotel, we all decided to play a game of ring of fire. If anyone knows this game, you know that you can end up getting drunk really quick. Sounds fun, right? Me being me, decided to play it with tea (as in yes, a brew)… and it turned out to be one wild night. No seriously.

The next day I decided to have a big breakfast to set me up for the day. I wanted to do a bit of exploring so bad as it is one of my favourite things to do when I travel. I did get a bit lost in the middle of London on my own (are we really surprised?), but in the end I managed to find Buckingham Palace which was on my bucket list for the day. I turned out to be one of those typical tourists who stops right in the middle of the street just to take a good (ish) photo, oops.

I then headed towards Oxford Street and did a bit of shopping. It must be around two years since I last went down there, and it is tons bigger than I remember! The amount of times I walked up and down that street was unreal- but so incredibly worth it. London shopping is always a bonus.

I then walked back to Euston station to catch my train back to Liverpool which was at 6pm that night. I also tried to find a Costa because I needed a brew so bad, and must’ve walked circles round the station trying to find it. Literally thirty minutes later I figured that it was time to ask someone where it was seen as I knew the station had one- and it turns out it was right in front of me the whole time. Perks of being blind. No, literally.

And that was my weekend in London! I am going back in March for #BLOGCON, so I hope to see some of you lovely lot there too! Where is your favourite place to visit in London? Let me know in the comment box below and let’s have a chat!

Also, let me know if you liked this post. It’s very different to anything I have ever published before so I am pretty anxious to publish it. Just sayin’.

Love and happiness always,

xo, Becca
